The Salt Lake Valley between the Wasatch and the Oquirrh Mountains and at the shore of the Great Salt Lake is a diverse region attracting visitors all year long for many reasons, including: to learn about its pioneer history, for meetings and conventions in Salt Lake City, for the religious center of the Mormons and state capital of Utah, and certainly for the striking scenery.

Salt Lake City is rich in history and visitors will marvel at the historic highlights including the Utah State Capitol that was built in 1916, the world-famous Temple Square and Mormon Temple, and Historic Main Street. Salt Lake City is often described as a metropolitan area with the friendliness of a quaint mountain town.

Nearby are the popular destinations Park City with its silver mining heritage and world-class ski resorts as well as the Utah Olympic Park, the park that hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics and today serves an Olympic training facility which invites visitors to a range of activities such as zip-lining and bobsledding.

Moab is one of the most popular destinations for active adventurers. A 4-hour drive from Salt Lake City, this is the gateway city to visit the nearby Mighty 5 ® National Parks:

  • Bryce Canyon National Park - crimson-colored rock formations

  • Zion National Park - translating into "The Promised Land", steep red cliffs, massive monoliths rivers and waterfalls

  • Capitol Reef National Park - cliffs, canyons and domes

  • Canyonlands National Park - Deep canyons formed by the Colorado and Green Rivers and their tributaries, with towering cliffs, pinnacles and spires of red rock

  • Arches National Park - dramatic landscapes with about 2,000 windowed arches

  • as well as the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park - its incredible landforms are the heart of the Navajo Nation and an icon of the American West and classic American cinema.

Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park offer tremendous opportunities for hiking, rafting, jeeping, biking and exploring the endless variety of fascinating red rock terrain.
